For the famous Italian designer Pietro Arosio, designing Solaris meant taking an unconventional approach, with original, almost provocative lines. Arosio himself says that Solaris "is not like any other kitchen", and this is true. It is shaped like a large Corian table with a modern streamlined shape and steel legs. The counter-top carries the outline of a sink, with a striking tap with spray head on the end and a projecting section which protects the rest of the room against splashes. Next to the sink is the ceramic hob, perfectly level with the surface, with no projecting controls or pan-stands. The rest can be used as a table, a worktop, or even a desk. Underneath this elegant Corian structure there is a drawer unit, on wheels so it can be placed as most convenient. There is also a steel “spinal cord” reaching down to the ground and concealing the sink’s drain connections.
