The work of French designer Ferréol Babin may be eclectic in output, but each of his projects begins with a hands-on approach to form and ideation. Ranging from one-off pieces to collaborations with editors, his work retains an artisan’s touch. It is this approach that led Babin to begin his series of hand carved timber spoons. All with a unique story, each spoon reacts to the specific piece of wood - the size, grain and texture, to create a family of individuals.
Translating the essence of these original timber spoons, pulpo has collaborated with Babin to bring new life to three of his characters. Released in a limited edition of thirty sets each containing three distinct ceramic spoons, available in white, black or a rose gloss glaze; every hand carved bump and bruise has been translated from the original timber forms into these beautiful ceramic editions. Housed comfortably in a custom timber box, this limited series is testament to the designer’s hand and the beauty of collaboration. All that is left is to choose your favourite colour and make them part of your tablescape family.
